Watery Poop

Oh no! It looks like Humphrey has diarrhea. He sits on the back of my chair a lot, so there is a newspaper beneath for droppings. Usually they are quite solid, but now there is a water mark around each dropping, and the green part of the poop is runny, not solid like usual. What should I do?
He has not eaten anything unusual that I know of.

I agree with Yehuda. I'd give it at least 24 hours. If it worsens, then a vet visit is in order. In all likelihood, if all other things seem fine, it will likely correct itself. Birds, just like humans, have tummy trouble from time to time.

Ahh the joys of bird parronthood - being obsessed with poop!

I experienced a similar situation with Maia about 2 months ago - except she had discoloration. I panicked and went to the vet, had her tested and probed - both of which had negative results - waited a couple of days and voi'la - everything cleared up on it's own.

Still don't know what it was - and it hasn't happened since - but it really does give you a scare. :aiwebs_01

Keep an eye on little Humph and let us know.

Thanks everyone, that makes me feel better. My instinct was to give it 24 hours, but I thought I should ask. The green part is not solid little turds like usual! It's more stringy, thin and watery. I am sorry to be gross, but I know you are all bird people so you understand!

Melissa - I freaked out when I was last in Philly because Corbett's poop was red! I called my mom at work and she said he ate a lot of tomatoes the day before, and he was also picking out the red pellets. I was relieved, too!

>>>if the faeces themselves (the green part) are will formed, but you see little of the urates (the white paste), it is likely that Humphrey simply is excreting through his urine excess fluid.>>>

Thank you for that! I have noticed that in my girls lately. Formed green part, lots of fluid around it. We do have a dryness here from the winter, so they may be drinking more water. I will continue to keep a close eye on them . . .

By the way, Melissa, I love Maia's pic. She is a little stunner. What a gorgeous girl You're so lucky to have her. I love her face, especially, even though her colors are stunning.
