where to buy nuts

Hi Everyone!
I live in Virginia and recently purchased a baby greenwing. I have read that they need quite a bit of nuts because of the healthy fat levels. My grocery store only sells them in bulk bins around the holidays. Could someone please let me know of some online sources for getting all kinds of nuts at a reasonable price? I found one website but found the shipping and handling charges to be highway robbery! If anyone knows of a good sources for nuts I would truly appreciate it as I would like to feed and assortment of nuts. Also, is roasted or raw the better option? I know no salt and I'm not a big fan of peanuts. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Do you have a health food store in your area?? I would think that they would constantly have them. The only other website I can think of is Drs. Foster and Smith:

I've heard good things about Roses Pet Emporium: Quality Food, Toys and Essentials for you Pet Bird but don't know how their prices compare.

I can normally find all sorts of nuts in the local supermarket.

I even got pine nuts and pecans there the other day. I had happy birdies all last night, hehe

It might be worth buying some in bulk and storing them well. I know my lot get through them quickly. Stuff in shell, that is.

I would concentrate on finding small amounts of pre-shelled as it doesn't last as long, but shell covered ones can. I've had some Filberts (cob nuts) since last year, they still taste fantastic, i eat them myself and give some to the budgies half cracked so they can pick it open.

NutsOnLine is where I buy nuts for my 'too

I've been doing this for 2 years now and I am more than happy with the quality of their products. It's human grade, and the best part is that their prices are great. I have never been disappointed with the quality.

When I got in the bag of Brazil Nuts, I couldn't believe how wonderful they smelled when I opened the bag. Whoddaknown that Brazil Nuts would smell good.

They also sell pine nuts (my reward treat for Joonie), filberts, pecans, walnuts in the shell, raw peanuts in the shell (they are so excellent, but use sparingly as they contain more fat) and dried fruit as well.

And order yourself something while you're at it, they have chocolate-covered goodies. Yum!
