Interesting Macaw Behavior

I knew I'd end up here sooner or later! :icon_mrgr I should get off my lazy butt and buy Sally Blanchard's Beak Book, but, I'm going to take the easy way out and ask here!! Tango is doing this "thing" with his beak and I think it's a friendly, bonding kinda thing, but I want to make sure I'm not off base. If I put my hand in his cage, or stick my fingers through the bars, Tango will come up to me and do this pecking kind of thing to my hand or fingers. Basically, he opens both mandibles and kind of repeatedly hits my hand or fingers gently with both mandibles. He'll do that for a minute then stop and do the parrot head bob and then go back to the "bouncing beak on hand" routine. I know you guys out there in BirdBoard Land have seen this behavior... what the heck is it?

TIA!!

David and the Bobbing Boy Tango!
