Male/Female differences (other than obvious ones!)

Hi!

We are still waiting for our baby "Doug" to be weaned so that we can bring "him" home. He was born on 12/9. We visited him tonight and the lady at the shop (who previously guessed that he was male) said as he is getting older, she believes more and more that Doug is female...

My daughter is very worried that if she is a girl, she will have life-threatening problems like becoming egg-bound, etc. I would like to know what you all think about females--do they have problems like this often? Are their personalities different? I have read that they don't sing or talk. Is this true?Do they do anything?

By the way, Doug did finally grow a crest! (We had written before about this...).

Thanks for any info you can give us!

When i was deciding on what sex of bird i'm getting which i'm getting a male. I was told if feed a proper diet and kept in good shape you shouldn't have to worry about being egg bound but if it does happpen get her to the vet asap. I was told if became egg bound is to messarge the from the belly down as it can help her lay the egg. But it is best to get the vet to do it. I'm not sure if what i say is correct. The only animal i ever bred where mice and rats. One of my female rats was having trouble giving birth so i messarged her belly down and it helped her give birth.
