Question about my two Macaws

Hello Everyone! I have a question. We have a Beautiful Hahn's Macaw. She has been with us for 3 months. Two days ago we have brought home our new GreenWing.

Could anyone tell me if a Hahn's and Greenwing are likely to make friends?

My husband and I have not placed them on the same play area yet. We are giving them both time to get used to one another and adjust.

Any experiences or insight would be greatly appreciated. We don't want any birdie fights.

Thank you so much!

Congratulations on your Greenwing! Friends later!

We have al lot of experience with different macaws together and I would caution you about having these in close proximity until you have them both for several months, then only supervised, one on each arm so you can control the situation. Your Greenwing will not be agile with his beak for quite awhile, this can lead to an accident even if they try to "beak it" with each other.

Our Hahn's likes our Yellowcollar, we allow them to be housed together and it has worked out just fine. Our Hahns's will fly to see our other large macaws but does not stay on a perch with them for long. Hahn's think they are a large macaw and that can get them into trouble. When our large macaw are out on their stands we keep the mini's in a large cage near them. The larger ones will fly over and sit on the cage with the mini's but not bother them.

Smile Two Macaws together

I have a Hahns and a Blue and Gold. They are in the same room and have been for about 3 years now. I allow them to be close to each other inside and outside in their play area but still don't feel comfortable leaving them alone together. My Hahns is very spunky and picks on the Blue and Gold at times. Not a good idea :eusa_naug
