Casper my new member

i got my u2 in 2day (casper)hes beautiful, extremly tame, in fact so tame hes got me worried. iv rubbed him n stroked him on every part of the body but he just wont let me pik him up!! i piked him up wen i went 2 c him the other day at his previous home, ill just av 2 keep tryin.

Iv got a couple of questions for any one who can answer it realy;

1)he seems extremly un balanced n very shaky hes been on his cage all day n not tried to jump off or any thing like that, i know he had problems in his early years space restriction and neglect but is there n e way i can halp him grow confidence n strengthen his wings and legs?

2) hes 12 years old and is scared of fruit or n e other food apart from parrot mix n even then he will only eat sunflower seeds and 1 other kind im unaware of, no penut, corn or n e thing. how can i adderss this problem taking into consideration if i put n e fruit in his cage he will freeze out of fright?
(he doesent even like toys apparently)

3) 2day when he did his first poop 4 me it was slimy and stuck 2 his bottom; this happend on 2 different occasions. he walked round the cage and it slill wouldent come off( about 10cm) so i helpe him out n took it off with tissue, could this be a problem?

i know he seems problematic but hes a lovely bird n i adore him, couldent of asked for n e thing better. casper realy is the friendly gost(lol)

Congrats on your new bird. I would take him to an avian vet and have him checked out. His poops should not be slimey in fact it should have three parts to it the middle should be coiled and then the urates are white with a clear liquid which is the urine. Color of the middle coiled poop can change in color depending on what the bird has eaten.

As far as changing his diet, have him hang out with you while you eat. Tell him how good your food is etc. In no time he will want to have what you are having. Good luck.
