Diamond Doves as pets?

I was recently looking into acquiring a diamond dove as a pet. I went to the local pet shop and one of the young girls who worked at the store explained to me that diamond doves do not make good pets as they are very loud, messy, and do not like being held or touched by humans.

So, I went online and did some research and the sites which I found all stated that diamond doves do make good pets. I was wondering if anyone on this site has ever own diamond doves, and what their experience (good or bad) was with them?

Also, I'm a beginner; The only birds I've previously owned were two finches and cockatiel. I'm not interested in breeding birds, I just want to know what makes a good pet for a beginner. Thank you!

I have a pair of DD in a large flight cage with finches. They do tend to be messy, but otherwise, are hardy and make good pets. I can touch mine. Even when the male or female is sitting on eggs, I can touch them and they don't move. Sometimes, the finches make them a bit flighty, but for the most part they are calm and laid back.
