I have had it 2 days now and it just makes a peep sound, and a slight chirp. The lady said it was a male and that it does sing, but I don't know, how long would it take to start singing when going to a new place? thanks all

When going through the molt most if not all male canaries stop singing, around August September for my ones. My males have started singing over the last week or two. You cant tell a male canary from a female one by looks
The noises that your one is making could be a female but it could be a male
before he starts singing. If its a male i would guess he will sing in the spring as singing is him trying to attract a female. good luck and hope he sings for you :icon_smil
