Colors of Love Birds

Hi! My name is Sheila and I am new to this board. I have a question about Mutation Peach Face Love Birds. I have a proven pair of White Face Violet Love Birds and their first clutch is now between 4 and 5 weeks of age. Two are Blue, two are turquois and one is charcoal grey. Is this a normal color for one of these birds and if so, what is the color referred to? Thanks, SSS [/b]

I don't believe grey is as common as other colors, but its not rare. You may have a cabolt or slate lovebird, creating that grey coloring. You may have a dark factor, or double dark factor blue... A single dark factor lovebird has a royal/navy blue rump, and a double dark factor will have a grey rump.

Single dark factor birds range from a deep green or blue coloring to a grey coloring with a a royal/navy blue rump. The double dark factors, same in coloring (some may even be black) with grey or black rumps, so they are easy to tell apart... If this baby is a single dark factor, he/she got the coloring from one parent. If he/she is double dark factor, then he/she got the mutation from both parents.
