Budgies are aggressive, and will most likely pick on the cockatiel. Mine does.

I have a 5 yr old tiel in with a young (about 1 yr old) budgie. They stay out of each other's way most of the time, but the budgie has her moments when she just has to pick on my tiel.

My tiel used to live with three budgies, which she loved dearly, but each one of them picked on her from time to time. She tried to stay away from them, but she loves to have at least one for company.

As for food, I give them seed with tiel sized pellets mixed in. My tiel eats both, and the budgie seems to eat bits and pieces of the pellets that the tiel leaves behind as well as the seed. They are also offered fruits and veggies.

Yes, you can keep them together in a large enough cage. My budgies and bourkes live together, and on some occasions, I'll let Casey inside the cage to explore, or more for her reasons, to eat their food. The bourkes leave Casey alone, however, the budgies, Cosmo leaves Casey alone however Smurf doesn't. They are both males so are not very aggressive, however, Smurf either picks and chases Casey, or flirts with her, while chasing her... It's a large enough cage for all the birds, however, Smurf just goes after anyone...

At the moment, they are eating the same seeds, and the bourkes and budgies also get some budgie seed along with the bag of non-sunflower cockatiel seed that everyone eats. They all eat just about the same fresh foods as well.

Again IMO now, I would not even be keeping different sexed cockatiels together in the same cage/flight/aviary if you are not FULLY prepared to breed and intervene to save fertilized eggs and hatchlings.

I would not keep keets with tiels myself unless maybe all were fully flighted and of the same sex AND the avairy was huge and not over-crowded, say like maybe 25' long by 15 feet deep by 8-10 ft. tall approx. with say maybe about 4 birds of each species and not more than possibly 2 somewhat compatible species in there. I would not do it however if there will be any chance of breeding (intentional or otherwise) as the keets may bother the tiels or vice-versa enough to cause stress amongst the adults when a clutch is being sat on/raised and either may cause the other to crack or abandon the babies or eggs. Just too risky IMO & IME.

i wouldn't keep them in the same cage. i have heard that either type of bird could be aggressive with the other, and they have difference space & toy size needs anyway.

i am planning on introducing my budgies to my tiel after my tiels quarantine is over, but have been told to stay with them & intervene if necessary.

all my birds eat harrisons lifetime fine pellets, which is fine for either bird nutritionally and is a great in-between size for both!

I had 2 tiels and 2 parakeets in the same cage. It was a large flight cage. I had no problems and when I would take one out the others would start calling for the "missing link". I personally think it depends on the personality of the birds you are thinking of placing together. I have honestly been blessed and have the best pets in the world; I have a 130 lb dobie that takes numerous nippings from my birds and just whimpers and walks away; I have a 15 lb cat that runs when one of the birds decides to attack him.
