sick parakeet or not?
I have had my male parakeet for about 10 months and in the last 3 or 4 days he started acting "off". His appetite has decreased and his droppings are a little loose but not watery. He is also acting very agressive, as in biting at my fingers. He is still vocalizing, although softer than usual, and still very active and his cute little self. He has even appeared to become a little friendly with a large rope toy in his cage and he can hardly tear himself away from chattering to his little bells! Should I take him to the vet or is this a passing phase? Help!

Hmmm. I'm not quite sure. He may be just growing up and in a hormonal period. If he's eating, drinking and otherwise seemingly fine, I'd wait a bit longer. Parakeets mature very quickly. He may be in "love". If he starts to just sit around and fluff up, then I would immediately vet him.
THE OUTLAW

thanks for your reply. He isn't eating really well, in fact that's what got me kinda worried, but otherwise he's doing okay. I know he is a bit of a narccisist so I only let him have a few small bells because he will forgo all nourishment to admire himself. Any more suggestions?
