Exclamation i need help in making safe cockatiel foot toys and preening toys.

i have no idea what to use for a foot toy. as for a preening toy i might just buy one or use some thin string cut it up and tie them together. do you have any ideas.

I would like to recommend this book to you It has an awesome list of how to's for any size birds. From foot toys to hanging toys and play gyms. All at a much more cost effective way to provide your cockatiel with an endless supply of toys.. I got it on amazon's web site

FYI, cockatiels won't hold something in their foot to chew on...you're better off making a hanging toy for a 'tiel.

My Friends tiel uses foot toys??, not llike my conure does, but a little. Maybe he learned it from her conure??? Weird hey. Anyway, I go to the dollar store and get stir sticks that they can chew on... and jacks so Wawa can play with the plastic thingies. I also buy many foot toys for parrots at the pet stores. Oh, and cat balls - the plastic kind with the bells inside. Wooden dominoes, organic cinnamon sticks. You can get really creative! Oh ya then there is my jewelry that often ends up as foot toys... LOL Just nothing that he can pull a small stone out of. Isn't it fun getting ready for a new baby to come home? You will find the right toys for your tiel. Don't forget to post pictures.

foot toys

I have 2 cockatiels, one regular grey and one lutino with some cinnamon-y colouring. anyhow, both of them use their feet to play with toys, i actually got them those balls with bells inside for cats, and they love 'em. They waddle around after the ball and pick it up. They grab at my lip ring with their feet too and pull at it. Every toy they have they use their feet with to some extent.

Wow.... I've had cockatiels for almost 30 years and have never seen one hold a toy with their foot. Cool to know some do, though!
