Cockatiel Seizures

Just bought two new cockatiels from a breeder this weekend. When the younger one of the two seems to get excited or scared his feet curl up underneath him and he pants like a dog. Is this a seizure? or could it be his nerves from the change in environment?? Thanks for your help.

Tiels will pant when they get excited, scared, over heated, etc. but my tiels feet don't curl up. I would bring him to an avian vet. I don't think it should happen too often either. The only time mine pant like that is when I have to towel them to clip their toe nails.

I had a cockatiel who 'spazzed up' on the one and only occasion when he was placed in a tub of water - he twisted into an odd position and stayed that way until we took him out (which was as quickly as we could get our hands on him). He went back to normal as soon as he was out. It never happened again and he seemed normal in every other way. So it might be a fear reaction, but your best bet is to have your bird checked out by an avian vet.
