My mated cockatiels have started nesting again and there are two eggs so far. The first was laid on 2/22, the second on 2/25. Neither seem to be sitting on them much as yet...how long before steady incubation has to start? I date them by writing on the egg in pencil. This handling of the eggs, didn't cause rejection the last season, so I don't think it is a source of a possible problem.
Last season she laid 10-12 eggs, I removed all but 2...since I knew that there wasn't a possibility of all the eggs surviving both the hatching and the growing into adult birds. The two hatched and both were adorable pearls. I was later able to sell each of them for $60 a piece. Any advice? |

The parents usually prefer to sit on 3-6 eggs and usually start incubating around 3. Please though post your questions in another spot as this is for selling birds among other items that can be sold, and you are asking a breeding question, which probably has been taken care of else where...
