Parakeet Help?

We've had a male and female parakeet for 14 months and yesterday the male died. Our question is: Do we get another male and if so will the female accept him in her cage? Or would the female be better off by herself? She seems happy and is very noisy and active. We spend a lot of time around the house with her so i don't think she will be bored. We want to do the right thing for her. Thank you for your help.

Thanks for your concern. It seems that he must have fallen the wrong way since it looked like his neck was broken. He was always hanging upside down. Thanks for your help.

I personally think budgies do better in pairs. I have a female that was given to me because her cagemate was killed by a cat. Her previous owner said she appeared to be depressed. She wouldn't vocalize as much, and she just clung to the side of the cage. She gave her to me, thinking that since I have other birds, this one would at least have some feathered company.

The budgie is doing much better since I have her housed with my cockatiel, but I would have preferred to have her with another budgie.
