Cockatiel With Upset Stomach

Hi everybody
I have a pied cockatiel called Joey who is about 12 years old, he was given to me about 3 years ago to look after as i had became housebound from a brain injury
Joey is normally great company and sits on my shoulder to watch tv or listen to me playing my guitar. However recently he has developed an upset stomach
His droppings are green and runny and smell acidy and rancid, he has been drinking a lot more water than normal
apart from his upset stomach he is just as noisy and energetic as normal, he is cleaned out twice a week and the cage is scrubbed out once a week. He is getting quite ratty at the moment as he does not come out of the cage as much as normal due to his upset stomach, as his runny droppings leave a stain on everything. Can anyone please advise me on what this may be and how to treat it

You have, what looks to me, a cinnamon pearl cockatiel, and most likely a female.

Round cages are not advised and are usually harder to place things in. Some can even be dangerous.

As for 'upset stomach', Joey may have renal disease/failure, liver failure, or otherwise.

I would suggest taking Joey in to see an avian vet.

Good for you! An avian vet is the only person who can make an accurate diagnosis and give advice on how to cure it.

Joey's Health

Thank-you to everybody who replied, i took Joey to see an Avian Vet. Joey has been confirmed as a female so i am slowly getting used to calling Joey a She instead of a He
The Vet diagnosed an infection causing the upset stomach, possibly from contaminated seed. However she has been on anti-biotics since thursday and seems to be making a full recovery
in future if iam in any doubt about Joey it will be straight to the vets, i will post a picture when she is back to full health
