Question My conures acting stranger than normal

Well she is a mouthy cow at the best of times, but over the past couple of days she has been screeching at me more so than normal, she has a fair few pin feathers coming through, she is also trying to get me to scratch under her wing, i know since joining here that isnt a good idea and wont co-operate, she also doesnt seem to want to be parted from me at the moment ( which isnt good as her droppings are a lot wetter than normal also ) and has virtually sat on me all day, she normally visits all the members of the family for scritches and pampering, but has decided to scream at them instead, and also fly at my oldest boy ( he is 20 ) which she hasnt done in ages

any advice please

yes she has done this from the begining, we assume its aimed at things she either wants as in me when she is in the cage or when out she does it aimed at our dogs, which occasionally get swooped at

conures typically go through 2 breeding periods, one in the early to mid spring, and then there's a chance for a second clutch in early fall.... my opinion: your girl's hormones are all over town, and you're her mate.

got the same thing going on here - valo just molts like there's no tomorrow, but nino sure has the hormones going (talk about screaming ). bella's got pin feathers too, and she's super snuggly - more so than usually....

wait until fall rolls in, then things should calm down

Not to dispute the above advice, but Suns really have no breeding season. It's year round, though a bit less during the main heat of summer. They are one of the few 'year-round' breeding birds out there truthfully. I get clutches in spring, summer, winter and fall.

It does sound like hormones. Just grit your teeth and bear it, she'll settle enough soon. You might consider shortening her day a bit more, but that's not really a fix for Suns. What does work to a point is to rearrange her cage completely. Throws them off balance enough to redirect their moods.
