Congo X Timneh
HI
I was wondering if it is possible to breed a Congo to a Timneh. I personally have no desire to do this but it came up on another message board and one person said yes it was possible and another said no it was not possible. My upstairs neigbor has a Congo that is much smaller than my Congo but larger than a Timneh, She does have a bright red tail like Congos have but her feathers are a very dark grey. My neighbor has owned this bird for the past 25 years so it is not a young bird. I know there is some variation in feather color and size in African greys but this bird looks like it could be the result of breeding a Congo to a Timneh??? |

There are about 6 sub species of African Grey parrots. The Cameroon is one of them. The Timneh is always easy to tell from the CAG by the color of their beak. It is grey and pink, the CAGs are always solid black. I wouldn't have a clue about trying to breed them, but I can only hope that no one would. We have enough confusion and too many unhappy birds needing homes already.
