Sprouted seeds

I recenlty got some special bird seed just for sprouting. I sprouted some - soaked in water 24 hrs. then put on a plate, covered with damp paper towel for another 20 hrs. or so. They sprouted and my budgies loves them!!

My question is -- can you store seeds that have already sprouted, or should I sprout new ones every day and toss the extras. Do any of you feed sprouted seeds. What are your methods?

Thanks for your help.

Carol

You can rinse and re-use refrigerated sprouts for up to 3 days. You must rinse them before serving, however. the bacteria levels get too high and the sprouts themselves start to get bitter after 3 days.

I soak seeds in water with aviclens (water cleanser) added, which helps to reduce bacteria in the water. Then when I rinse the seed I also let it sit in the water with aviclens for around 10 minutes.

Thanks for your advise. I have some Aviclens so will use that. And glad to know about the 3 days. He really seems to like them. We have an organic veggie garden, so he gets all the greens etc. I wonder if they like tomatos?
We have a ton of them!! He sure loves mashed potatos.

Thanks again-
Carol
