Psittacosis/Chlamydia

My new Quaker, Chaska has just tested negative for this. It seems to be the most dangerous bird disease commonly found in Australia. The vet suggested I get my Tiels checked. I have 9 and at $77 a test it would cost a fortune. I was wondering since 6 of them were born in my home and have had no contact with other birds, would the young ones be safe if the adult Tiels are tested negative? I was thinking to test Tiki, Koro and Manu. All the others are Tiki and Taina's babies, except Maui who was Ariki's son. Taina was tested last year when she had plucking issues, she was negative and has passed on. Ariki came here at 8 weeks old, she died of egg binding. How long does it take for psittacosis to show up. I had no new birds entering my home since Koro in Jan 2004 until Chaska 2 weeks ago. She is still in quarantine.

They have to be transmitted by feces, body contact, dander, shared food/water, etc.

If your birds had either you would know it and would probably have the same problem(you don't want psitticosis, i caught it when we cleaned out a breeder here and it sucks to say the least, its like having the worst flu in the world and it makes you hurt like someone beat you with a baseball bat)

I was smart and didn't go home but if i had it would have spread to the birds, the place we took the birds out of was totally nasty and all of them were infected.(all of them lived and were adopted)
