The Hen threw the egg out!
When I came home I saw the egg thrown out the nest box broken! I was very disappointed and sad. Why did she crush her only egg? And yes she has a mate, She had that egg for only one day. I opened the nestbox today to find no more eggs. Should I open the box again to see if she had laid any more eggs.

Leave her alone, and just leave the nestbox alone to. She may think that her environment is not right for raising chicks, or may be upset with her mate (some females hate their mates even if they mate with them). Just let her be and watch her. If she doesn't want to breed or raise chicks she wont. If she will, she will!

Monica is correct. Every single time you invade her space you make her feel like its not safe to raise a family there.
