Night time

I have 3 questions, hope someone can help, thanks.

1. At night when my tiel is covered up, he makes a noise like grinding. This goes on for about 15 mins, why does he do this.

2. How can I get my tiel a bit fatter. He is about 3 months old and dosent eat very well, and is not interested in fruit or greens. The only thing he likes is the Honey Bell, he finishes one in 2 days.

3. At what age can I expect my tiel to start talking. He is wolf whistling.

1. This is called beak grinding. They do this when they are relaxed and happy.

2. Remove the treats and continue to feed more appropriate foods. He is filling up on junk. I would probably recommend adding pellets with his fresh fruits and veggies.

3. If it is a male, it could start talking at any time. It its a female, it may NEVER say a single word. Its rare for female tiels to talk.

Males usually have brighter faces. It's harder to tell in mutations. Females usually have barring on tails, spots on flight feathers, and retain pearls. Males are usually known for singing a couple times throughout the day where-as females usually only chirp. Females may have a wider stance than males. Males may rub their bottoms on toys or perches, and may sing to their toys. Females will usually back up against an item.

Sometimes, the only sure way of sexing a tiel without knowing personality and mutations would be to have a dna sex done.
