Your experiences with Avicalm AND other calming agents

I just looked up Avicalm and can't find what dose you give a large macaw. If anyone knows, please tell me. I'm trying to figure out how expensive it would be for me to treat my B&G with it for say one month. That will give me an idea of how much it's going to hit my wallet.

Also if anyone knows of other medicines, herbs, vitamins or foods that will help calm a bird, please tell me about that too. My B&G is aggressive, posturing even if I just walk by. Some days he wants to be on me and seems happy, but then in the blink of an eye he can ram his beak real close to my eye or start biting my arms. I just never know with him. But I definitely see the potential for him to be a friendlier bird. I don't know what he went through before ending up in a shelter.

For large birds the dosage is 1/2 teaspoon every 12 hours. There are 6 teaspoons in an ounce and the AviCalm is sold in 8oz jars. So, there are 48 days worth of medication for a large bird in 1 8oz jar which retails for $35.00 per jar... which works out to approximately .75 cents per day...

I use it on my CAG... and it's an amazing product... worth every single penny. My CAG is considered a Medium-size bird to his dosage is a 1/4 teaspoon every 12 hours... so mine works out a bit cheaper...
