Exclamation Need Help-Please- BlueJay

A Baby Blue Jay went after my daughter in the park. I went back and found the nest to be high in a pine tree. The baby bird had injured right leg and left wing. We graduated bluejay from puppy carrier to 50lb puppy cage (mainly plastic with iron gate and side top vents. Fed the bird, water soaked cat food with wild bird seed. We have bluejays, cardinal, brown thrashers, pigeons we feed in our back yard. "Birdie" knows my voice. We started letting her walk in our fenced in backyard (no dogs). I know how to heal as we have had series health issues with our dogs (rescued). Problem is birdie was let loose yesterday evening. She flew into our elm tree. She came down this morning at our requst so we could feed her. She/he is still baby. My daughter feed her again at afternoon and then Birdie disappeared. We feed wild cats in front yard. When I came home from work, today, Birdie was high in trees in front yard calling out to me that she was hungry and scared. She came down after we called her to. I reluctantly put her back in catch. She did not want to go in. It's very windy outside. I fed her- she was hungry. No one from rehabilitator is interested. After numerous calls and emails, I got a nasty email back advising that these people don't get paid from the government and have to have full time jobs. Hence still no help.
How do I release this bird? She has no problem flying out of cage, although she ocassionally still hits things, doors, etc. She knows my voice and I know hers. I would love for her to be free but not if all of our work is worthless if she dies. I can let her go. I don't think she can let us go. And I won't abandoned her. I've read and read and read. Nothing about how to let a wild baby bird go. She is probably 1/2 to 3/4 size of normal BlueJay.
thanks to anyone who wants to help me.

If you've tried all of the wildlife rescue/rehab places in your area then the only thing you can do is keep the bird outside but continue feeding him/her, and hope that the bird meets up with some species of it's own. This isn't for jays but perhaps it'll help?

It would probably be helpful if you put a birdfeeder in your yard and taught the baby how to feed itself there. Other birds will come to eat the seed and if some of them are jays then maybe your baby can flock with them.
