New bird quarantine

Okay, here's the deal... I am seriously considering adopting a 5 year old senegal parrot. I already have a quaker and 7 budgies who stay in our living room. After I fell in love with this bird and pretty much committed to it, I realized that I don't have a good place to quarantine it from the others. Even with an OK bill of health from the vet I know you're still supposed to quarantine for 30 days. The only place I could put him would be in our bedroom, which isn't far away from the living room. I believe the air would still circulate and it wouldn't make much of a difference if he was in the bedroom or other side of the living room. So what should I do? I'm sure other people have adopted birds who live in small living spaces. Do you think him being in the bedroom with the door shut as much as possible would be good enough?
Another problem I have with it is the whole reason this bird is looking for a new home is because his current owner just doesn't have the time to give him any interaction out of his cage. So he doesn't get much attention :( I would feel so guilty if I had to keep him in the bedroom for a month because all the activity is in our living room. This sennie is a pet, and the owner also has another bird and she claimed they are healthy and never had a health problem.

Would it be so terrible to keep his cage on the opposite side of the living room as the other birds? If everyone really thinks he should be further removed I will put him in the bedroom. I just have never had to deal with this before so I'm not really educated on this matter!

Thanks!

You already know the answer. Neither solution will protect your other birds. You are correct abt the air. You are taking a risk. Do you feel confident that this new addition is well? Can you bring him/her for a well birdie check and at least leave him/her in his old home until you've had that assurance that all is OK. Then you could visit for a bit each day. To me, that would be a solution of sorts if you aren't really certsin this bird is totally well.

BTW I think you are wonderful and amzing for bringing this little guy into your flock.

As far as I know the bird is well. He looks healthy too. I will take him to the vet, but I can't leave him in his previous owner's home for that much longer... I am going to visit him tomorrow and most likely take him home. I was thinking this morning that I'll keep him in the bed room for a couple weeks, and as long as he shows no signs of obvious illness I'll just bring him out to the living room. Thats the best solution I can think of at this time.

Thanks! The poor little guy sure is in need of some love and attention, which he will get plenty of here pretty soon! I am just so glad he hasn't started plucking yet...
