Info on indian ringneck parakeets and conures?

I was wondering if anyone can give me info on indian ringneck parakeets and green cheek or maroon bellied conures as pets? I heard both breeds can be really nippy? Any info on that would be greatly appreciated! Also what size cage do I need for them...would an 18 X 18 X 24 do if I let them out lots? Thanks everyone!

My IRN is very bossy, and very nippy but very loving, my green cheek is a very sweet little girl and can nip sometimes. But I have friends who have ringnecks and they are very sweet. Mine was already grown when I got her, and I've had her for 5 years now. . she and i are stuck with each other from here on out and to be honest, I love her just the way she is cos to me she is perfect.

I wouldn't recommend that size cage for a conure. They are very busy birds, and need more space than that for toys an general playspace. It would be a decent size for a sleep cage. The most popular size for a conure the size you're speaking of is a flight cage. They need more length than height, but I have a GCC in one flight cage, and a Sun in another flight cage. I have two other males (Sun and Jenday) who are bonded so have to be housed together, and they are getting a flight cage also. Cages that don't have that amount of space I have found just aren't big enough when you start talking toys too. My GCC uses her whole cage...top to bottom and side to side. My Sun has only recently started using the bottom half of his cage, which is why height isn't as important as length and width.

I can only speak to GCC's of the birds you've mentioned. Yes, nippy, but over all a GREAT little bird with a big bird personality!
