rainbow lorikeet help?

Hey i am just wondering i have a breeding pair of rainbow lorikeets which layed 2 eggs 1 has hatched and it has been 5 days and the other 1 has not yet is this common?? how long do u wait untill infertile?? They hatched 2 days apart any help wld be great thanx kiwi

Hi there, I presume you mean that they laid 2 eggs 2 days apart, the first one hatched 5 days ago and the second one still hasn't hatched. I would think that there is very little chance that the second one will hatch at all, it is quite possible that only the first one was fertile, the second may be infertile, or for some reason the embryo hasn't survived. Personally, I would leave it for another day or two, and then take it out and inspect it. If you candle it you will soon know if it was fertile.
