Where did you get him from? Did they not know how old he was?

I got him from my sister's friend and she said he was a baby, but didn't specify how old he was.

We took him in because they were going to release him into the woods because they were afraid of him. He definitely wouldn't survive, so we saved him.

Good job on saving him! i can't beleive they would think about letting him go - how irresponsable! Well, i can't think of how you can tell how old he is then - hopefully someone else can help, i dont know much about Senegals.. An avian vet could guestimate his age probably

I know, I was kind of shocked to hear that they would do that, and we already have a cockatiel, so we figured just one more bird wouldn't kill us lol. So I guess asking a vet is the only way to find out, then. Hm. okay, thanks =]

Is it a baby? Baby senegals have irises that are more dark gray or blue, they turn bright yellow by about one year I think. If it's already yellow well... at least you know it isn't a baby, haha.

Usually an avian vet can give a good estimate, as Emmilyy said. I'm glad you realized that it wouldn't survive in the wild. You already know more than the previous owners did! If you have any questions, just ask. Do you know if it is hand tame? How big of a cage does it have. We would like to give you tips on making the Senegal's and your life better and easier :)

Don't forget pics. We'd all love to see pics!

No pics - no advice.
