Question Cocakatiel lost flight feather, blood on tip??

We have three Cockatiels. Our youngest Sunny was purchased early January this year. He/she just started to grow fight feathers and they were about an inch out past his/her folded wings - one on each side. This morning my daughter found one on the family room floor! We don't know exactly what happened as we did not witness it. Our birds are "out" most of the morning in the family room but we are not always in the room. What bothers me is that the tip of the feather has blood on it and the tip is not pointed leaving me to believe that the very tip part of it is still in him/her. Is that a concern and should I take him/her to the vet?? The feather is four and a half inches in total length with about one and one eight inch not having any feather on it - just the clear stem. We see tail feathers and other feathers around the house time to time but I have never noticed blood on the tip. I examined him/her and could not see that there was any bleading from tha t wing and I looked underneath the wing also. Thanks for any advice. --- Steve

From reading other articles on the internet such as the one at the link below it looks like I do not have to worry. It was not a blood feather as the quill was clear and Sunny did not show any signs of bleeding. It still is sad to see he lost his flight feather. He looks lopsided now and has been doing his flying exercises so frequently. I know more will grow in the weeks to come and by Fourth of July he will be flying after me. --- Steve
