Unhappy New parrot / old dog... HELP!

I just got an 8 month old Senegal parot. I'm still training her, as she's still a little nippy. It's been three days since Tallulah has come home with me and it's already starting to cry when I leave the room.

I also have a 13 year old dog. He's a small pomeranian. Tallulah isn't phased by him at all, but my dog, on the other hand is freaking out! When Tallulah cries, he tries to run and hide. He gets very nervous and starts shaking. I'm assuming this hurts his ears a great deal, and I feel awul! I try holding him and calming him down, but nothing seems to work. When I take him for a walk, he doesn't want to come back inside, either. I have to pick him up. I should probably post this in a forum for dogs, but Is there anything I can do for my pooch?

How long does it generally take for senegals to get comfortable with me out of the room? Any advice would help. Thanks so much!

I'm sorry I can't help you with the dog.
Senegals, however, can get clingy if you don't redirect that energy quickly. Does she have enough toys? Does she know how to play with them? You may have to "teach" her how to play with her toys. My Cory was the same way when she was a baby. I had to teach her to enjoy toys. She'd still rather be with me and get pet, but she's good at playing by herself if I make her. You may want to sit in the room with her while she's contained in the cage and read a book or generally do something else and coach her with your words that she's okay, she can play in her cage, etc., until she starts to get the idea that she's the center of the universe!
By the way, I love her name.
