VooDooMan's Birdie Bread
The good thing about this recipe is that it is very flexible and you can add or subtract almost any ingredients you want from it... I don't give any measurements because I eyeball everything. :) I bake it in small loaf pans and tiny-mini muffins (they'r great for the big birds)
Cornbread mix eggs milk (or soy milk or juice) cooked and mashed sweet potato (or yams) Veggies (any kind you like... I put in all kinds, either chop them very finely or mash them up, that way there's a bit of each on each bite.) Dried fruits (try the health food store -less chemicals-) Chopped nuts (all kinds... I increased the amount when I made them for the macaws) grated cuttlebone (I don't do eggshells... "I" hate it when I bite into something crunchy that's not supposed to be there lol) Spirulina or wheat grass powder (in very small amounts) Grains (cooked beans... kinda mashed up (they tend to get hard) Dried hot peppers (yumm) Anything else you can find that's safe and 'bakeable' Bake until it's done... cool... serve and freeze unused portions. I don't know if your birds will like it, but mine go crazy over it. |
