Outlaw's Pasta Prima Vera

This is really something from whatever veggies I have around the house. Today's version has the following:

1 3 pound bag defrosted frozen mixed veggies
3 cups fresh broccoli florets
1 pound cooked spaghetti (broken into quarters)
4 cooked chicken legs, chopped

This will feed all ten of my larger parrots, one meal a day for approximately 3 days. I usually add chopped cilantro or baby spinach, but I didn't have any handy today.

that looks delicious.

I made a fresh-food mix for my girl today. It definitely wasn't as pretty as Outlaw's, though. I cooked:
--1/2 large bag of popcorn (plumped on stove for 3 hours)
--beans (pinto, chick pea, black, navy, kidney, etc)--soaked all day
--barley
--1 bag cranberries
--1 bag frozen okra
--1/2 bag frozen peas

I usually add too much rice to my mixes and it winds up being mostly rice with a bit of other stuff. This time I made all of the other ingredients together and I'll cook up some rice tomorrow to add in.

FD:

I used to do the same thing with both the cooked rice and the beans. Now I cook up a big batch of both, let them cool, and fill quart sized zip locks. When I decide to make up a batch of bird chow, I simply defrost a bag of rice or beans or both and add them to the rest of the concoction. I have better control over the portions and less waste, ultimately. And when the mixture is done, I then use the empty bags to save the leftovers for the following day. At my house, there is rarely enough leftover for an entire meal, but usually enough to enhance whatever I'm making. Or, I sometimes add it to my dog's food. She really has an excellent diet, too.

It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one with that problem. It only took me a year to figure out that I should cook the rice separately. duh!

I bought a bunch of strawberries, mangoes, kiwi, parsley, and bok choy. I'm going to chop them up and make some zip lock bags of them too. After all of that, I should have enough food ready for her for a few months.

That's a fancy name for the tops of broccoli. The bottom part is the stalk. Florets are the tops, broken into bite sized pieces.
