Question New GCC - Which birdie bread to try 1st?

New mom to a 2 year old gcc who I am working with on earning the trust! Which birdie bread is ideal to try first for this little guy? All he knows in the mellit, and basic bird mixed food.

Thanks.

This is what I make for Quito, and she loves it. Started with a Jiffy cornbread muffin mix. Added egg (with shells) a jar of sweet potato baby food, some diced up brocolli and shredded carrots, and a bit of water in place of the milk. Bake in an 8x8 pan for around 20 minutes.

After it cools, I cut it up into about one and a half inch squares, and pop them into freezer bags. Then you just take a square out of the freezer and pop it in the microwave for a few moments. Watch out for internal hot spots after microwaving, you don't want her to get a burned tongue!! I always let it set out on the counter for a few minutes to make sure it has cooled off. GC's aren't very big, a batch lasts a long time.

In another thread we were all taking about frozen food & how birds often enjoy an ice cube or frozen fruit - blueberries .

I wouldn't think it was necesary to microwave the food - wouldn't they just thaw nicely? Or does it get mushy?

Try sprouts too - home made - from almost any bean or seed you normally eat.

Sweet potato baby food, awesome. I have tons of it due to my 6 month old.

Oh, absolutely true! The microwave is just to thaw it out quicker.
