That recipe just takes my breath away. But I think I'll stick to my simpler recipe......

mash

Wow, intimidating...are all those different powders necessary?

I currently have collected:
an assorted bean mix
frozen veggie medley
frozen edamame (soy beans)
sweet potato
white potato
red grapes
tomatoes
tangerine
apples
1 banana
wild rice
1 red pepper
1 yellow pepper

can I make it with just those ingredients or will something be severely lacking?

Success!!!!

So, I made the mash with what I had available...I forgot to soak the beans for a long time though. Is that bad, what effect does that have?

Anyway it looks crazy, soo many colors! I basically just threw together what i had in the fridge like I had mentioned yesterday...so I'm missing a couple things from the recipe. I think it still pretty well covers major food groups. Thoughts? If this will be his staple diet, am I severely lacking anyone thing?

Also, I would love to share videos of my buddy...anyone know how I can do that?

Thanks for everything...this seems like a really fabulous group!

I guess it would help if I told you what I put in it!

So basically,

Bean mix (from an organic bean pasta ***lioli?)
Brown rice
(I boiled/simmered that until the beans were chewable)
and then added

a handful of multi-grain pasta
Frozen veggie medley
frozen peas
frozen green beans
fresh green beans
fresh Carrots
Apples
red Grapes
Tomatoes
Yellow pepper
1 Chili pepper
1 Steamed sweet potato
1 steamed Regular potato
Dried blackberries (organic with nothing added)

anything you think I need to add to this batch as I'm feeding?

WOW! That is a huge recipe!

Am I thinking correctly that this could be the complete diet for the bird or would other things still need to be offered?

fuzz, sorry noone replied to you.

Yes, that should be okay for now, add things with the seasons, change is good. I've made 3 batches so far, and its always 'oohh, this is on sale, I bet it would taste GREAT!

Just remember no avacado.

And, for those of you afraid of how much is in it, if you go right it can cost around $20, and that $20 makes 100 1/3 cup servings-50 days worth of food.

it certainly is ok to substitute items on the list. Try to stay as close to the list as you can when wanting the max nutrition. The base recipe as only evolved a little in over 40 years.
I haven't made it exactly as the recipe calls for in quite some time. It usually costs me between $25 and $30.
My batches seem to come out huge though. lol Last one I made came out 3 gallons (12 one quart freezer bags) That'll be 3 months worth!!

This is going to sound like a really stupid question probably, but it can't be helped.

Do you dethaw it for the babies? Or do you just put a frozen chunk of it in the food bowl?
