Recipe I use for smaller birds

This is something I mix up for weaning cockatiels, but most small birds will usually eat it if you keep trying. My smaller birds don't like the big pieces of fruits or veggies. First off: Get a Black & Decker Handy Chopper Plus. $10. at Walmart. I haven't measured so I will tell you about how much of each ingredient. Put it all into a small bowl. Chop Chop Chop :)
Kale: about 4 whole pieces
Carrots: about 5 of the baby cut carrots
apple: half of a small one
Garbonzo beans: about 1/4 cup
Homney (white or yellow) about 1/4 cup
Brocolli: about 4 pieces
oatmeal: about 1/4 cup
one slice of 12 grain bread
Mix all together in a bowl & you can also add some spirulina to it & mix.
This should come out in a crumby sort of texture, not real wet or sticky. My Tiels love this mix. I sprinkle it on top of their seed mix & they eat it all.
If your birds don't eat it, take it out after a couple hours. But keep trying. Will keep in refrigerater for a week.

Hi Pam! Thanks for this post. I went out today and bought the Black & Decker 3-Cup Chopper (couldn't find the exact model you mentioned) and I'm chopping away at veggies for Tiki as we speak. Thanks, this was a great suggestion!

editing....Why the heck have I been chopping veggies by hand all these years???? This is awesome! Thanks!

Yeah JB,
I wondered the same thing, LOL :) Much easier this way. Plus the small birds get bite size pieces which mine like rather than the bigger.
