your bird won't eat pellets or even if they do read ----->

If you having trouble getting your bird to eat pellets try this recepie it works wonders on even the stubburn bids.

Pellet Mush:

first I start by putting the leftover chunks of fresh fruit in the freezer when I fix my GW meals, once I have a selection of different fruits. I put them in the fridge to defrost, once they are back in their soft state I put them all in a small food processor and add some ground up cuttlebone (you can add any supplements your want)and blend untill its all smooth and not too chunky, adding fruit juice to thim it out if it gets too thick, you want it a lil bit closer to the consistancy of yougurt but the wetter the better. The less skins the better I usually don't peel the grapes, blueberries, or peaches.

next: the pellets, theese I mix up a big batch and keep in sealed container untill I need them.
add a couple big handfulls of pellets, to a food processor or blender along with your birds favorite nuts, blend everything untill it is ground up fine with a few chunky pelltes and chunks fo nuts, you don't want it completely powdery.

Once I have the fruit I add a couple spoonfulls of the pellets and stir them together untill I get a penut butter or oatmeal consistancy. my GW will eat it off the spoon as I scoop in his dish, he loves it freash but will also eat it at every meal!!

I was even able to get my girfriends Sennegal to eat it, she would not touch mushy food for the life of her but she loves this mush

I always throw out any left over after a couple days so it won't spoil, and always make small batches at a time

This sounds like a great idea! I'll have to try it on my bird with the injured beak.

I bought that " Magic Bullet" blender/mixer thing off the T.V. infomecial and it works great for my bird the cups are the perfect size to keep small batches, any blender will work but there is always a lil bit taht gets stucjk to the insides.

I never even thought about feeding to injured or sick birds that was a great idea!

the best part is its a different taste every time

I don't feed pellets and I can't see where this is any more convenient than feeding a good fresh diet. To each his own I suppose.

There are pellets in all of Lafeber's foods, nutriberries and avicakes. My birds are eating them and they don't even know it.

I mix in some Zupreem fruit pellets into Scarlett's dry mix but all she does is throw them around the room and turn her water various colors by dumping them into her water bowl.

I don't worry much about what she does with them because I feed her lots of fresh, nutrient-dense foods daily. I probably won't buy them again when I make up another batch of dry mix.

this is just a recipe for a lil snack or in addition the numerus fresh veggies and fruit my bird gets daily as well, but I believe pellets are a great source of nutrients that I can have available when there isn't any good fresh produce at the store.

it was just an idea for getting people with stubborn birds to try something new, not a replacement for fresh food

Mora gets Harrison's, mac nuts and banana chips ground up, in a Bullet, mixed with organic veggies or fruit. I put it in her bowl, Lori spoon feeds her.

We were just at the Way Out West bird expo this past Sunday and talked to a vet that said if we weren't feeding pellets at least 85% of the diet, that our bird was not getting enough nutrition. She wasn't pushing any particular brand just the natural colored ones. They had Harrison's, Zupreem and Roudybush. She also said the only veggies/fruit we should be feeding are dark green leafy and orange flesh, and nuts are a treat. Anything else was not really good for them. I just nodded and walked away. Our birds eat good, get a variety of healthy foods and nuts.

And on a side note; Lori blasted a breeder with a display of caged birds for having too many birds in one cage. The look on their faces when she finally walked away was priceless. Almost as funny as when she turned around and thought about going back.
