Slow Cooker

I purchased a small crockpot and I want to use it for the birds or something but anyway I am wondering if anyone has any recipes for a slow cooker. I did a search on google and didn't seem to find anything but recipes for a slow cooker with someones screen name with parrot in it.

Thanks in advance

I don't have any recipes, so to speak. I just put a whole bunch of healthy birdie goodies in there and let it simmer. Things like wild rice, squash, 15 different beans, carrots, peas, greans, etc.

I make boiled popcorn for the birds in my crockpot.

Take some regular popping corn and put it in a crockpot. If I use a cup of popcorn I fill the crockpot 1/2 way with water. Turn it on and leave it overnight. In the morning you will have soft puffy kernels (they double in size). Drain any excess water. I then will add red palm oil, slivered carrots, powdered alfalfa or spirulina, ground flax seed and anything else you'd like! Mix it up while its still warm and let it sit till cool enough to serve. Leftovers can be kept in the fridge, or put it in ice cube trays and freeze for individual servings in the future. To serve a frozen portion, just warm in the microwave but be careful not to get it too hot and beware of hot spots.

My Chief LOVES the popcorn in the crockpot. You can also buy the bags of bean soup mix. (I've seen 15, 16, and 17 bean soups), but make sure it's the ones with the seperate seasoning packs. You can simmer the beans in a little water overnight and add them to whatever fresh veggies you give your birdies. Here's two websites that I've found some good birdie recipes at, although not necessarily for the crockpot:

parrot recipes - beans, grains, pasta mix
Recipes

Enjoy!
