they LOVE it

I made a "variation" of the kitchen sink recipe.

I used:

-black beans, navy beans, black-eyed peas, great northern beans, and pinto beans.

-white rice (I know brown is better, but I'm still figuring out how to use the rice cooker, and ruining a batch of white rice (which I did) is way cheaper than ruining a batch of brown rice).

-a big bag of frozen veggies (peas, corn, carrots, and green beans).

I served it with frozen strawberries (thawed, of course) and they are LOVING it.

I haven't "heard" Togo this quiet in a long time.
RJ hasn't eaten it yet, but is definitely interested.
Even Wrigley stopped the "I'm hungry, I want baby food" noises long enough to shove her face into the bowl.

I way overestimated what I was doing and made probably 8 pounds of the mix, but with this reaction, I think I'll be feeding this regularly.

Maybe I'll eat some, too!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR RECIPES!

Here's a rice cooker:

There are LOTS of different ones. They cook the rice and then keep it warm.

They're great when they work, but the one my mother has was shooting rice "pee" all over. It made a huge mess (and I'm lucky I didn't get burned). I don't know what the deal is. Whatever.

Rice cookers are like $30. My brother suggested I get my mother a "working" one for the holidays.

Frankly, you don't even need a rice cooker. Heat your water to a boil, add raw rice, turn off the burner, cover and let sit for 20 minutes. VIOLA! All done.
