Chard/quinoa recipe

I wanted to get some greens into Darwins diet, but he does not like eating them! So I decided to try and disguise them a bit into a recipe and he really liked it! Also made it with healthy quinoa!

handful shredded Chard (I used green)
handful broccoli florets
handful beans (I used black-eyed peas)
handful cooked quinoa
and about 1/2 T red pepper flakes

Then I just mixed it up in a bowl and served it. It was a little warm because the quinoa had just finished cooking.

A lot of people make it like rice, with a certain amount of water and quinoa. But I make mine like pasta, I just boil it until its ready and then strain (I do it with rice now too...because I used to always burn it!). You know it is ready when the little "tail" can be sen and it turns a clearish color.

I was scared to start cooking with it at first, but it is really good for birds (and humans!). It is also really versatile, I have made sweet pudding with it and now this. Darwin really likes it (oh, and he likes it slightly undercooked...strange bird)!

Heres a link explaining it better than me :)

Thats where I get mine, at our local co-op. If you can buy in bulk, it is super cheap.
