Pancakes
After some experimenting, I came up with this recipte. Harley loves them! I am going to start making them for her on Saturday mornings. Here is how:
Pancakes: Makes 5 3-4 inch pancakes. Ingrediants: 1/2 cup flour (I used all purpose) 1/3 cup water 1 (raw) egg Fruits and Veggies (I used: 2 broccoli florets, 2 apple slices, 4 baby carrots, 1 red potato and 1 hard boiled egg) 1. Chop fruit, vegetables and egg using a hand chopper (you can also use a knife or food processor) They should be fine, but still big enough for your bird to chew a bit. 2. In a seperate bowl, combine flour, egg and water. Mix well. You want it to be smooth and not heve 'lumps'. 3. Add batter to fruit and veggies. Mix well. There shouldn't be 'bubbles' where veggies are not covered. 4. Add nonstick (I used coconut oil) and warm skillet. 5. Place your desired amount (I used about 2 tablespoons) of mixture on skillet and flatten using spatula. You don't want to make them too flat because the pancakes will be too thin and fall apart. However, make sure they aren't too thick or else they won't cook all the way through. 6. Cook on medium low- medium heat for about 30 seconds per side. You can tell if they are done by lifting them up. If they bend, but don't come apart, flip them. If there is batter on the spatula then contienue to cook. 7. Once done, set them on a plate to cool. You bird will love them! You can add whatever you want to them, I sometimes shred the veggies so they are in strips. You can also add rice or sprouts to them. My macaw Harley LOVES them!
