I read an article sometime ago that said birds only have 100 or so taste buds whilst humans have 9000+.
Our AV said that we could give Sydney (tiel) hot jalapeno peppers and the heat would not bother him because he doesn't have the receptors. Skip |

Birds don't have a lot of saliva in their mouths, which is why hot peppers are not hot... And indeed, they do have less taste buds... thus, making them more picky about foods...
