What can we feed our IRN

Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions for the best food to feed an IRN?
He seems to love sunflower seeds.

Don't feed him too much sunflower seeds. You might try pistachio nuts instead once he learns how to crack the shells and eat them.

You are looking more towards feeding fresh, frozen/thawed or cooked fruits, veggies, cooked eggs and pasta, breads, etc. If you can feed a diet that consists mainly of fresh foods then you would feed very little seed. You can feed just about anything that you eat yourselves to your IRN though do keep some foods in moderation such as if you ever decide to feed some icecream, chicken or turkey bones, or foods a bit high in sugar, salt, or oil. You'll want to keep his diet mainly fresh to keep him in good health.

If you do not feed pellets (people may suggest for parrot owners to feed pellets though some parrots do better without and other birds are fine on a fresh food diet daily) then look for a good brand of seeds that doesn't have too much sunflower, safflower, or peanuts in it. I really can't suggest a good brand of seeds to feed to an IRN of course then again you could also go to a health food store and see if they sell any seeds.

sunflower seeds are high in fat should only be fed as treats or when your bird needs to put on weight. I know most seeds have it mixed in like the cockatiel seed theres sunflower seeds in that but not much put in around here. I think you should be pretty well right to feed your IRN a good cockatiel or parrot seed with fresh fruit and vegies daily.

Feeding IRNs

I've been giving mine cooked vegetables, they don't seem to care for them raw. I give them a mixture of carrots, peas, brown rice, and broccoli, sometimes cauliflower. They really go for this, especially the boiled carrots....

I feed ours Higgin's fruit and veggie mix for large hookbills, it has some seed in it, but not so much that they can fill up on it. I also give them parrot/conure size Zupreem fruit pellets and Roudybush medium. My 2 prefer the larger size food so they can hold it in their foot better, others may prefer the smaller size. You just have to figure out what your's likes.

My IRN will eat just about anything I put in front of him, and I mean ANYTHING!!! But my ARN isn't big on the fresh food. I just give it to him anyway in the hopes that he will at least try it.

We feed our two Alexandrines, Merlin and Arwen, just about anything. I make a mixture of four different seed & pellet mixes, and add in organic pistachios, cashews, almonds, and pecans. I usually add in some organic trail mix, too. They also get soft food, which is either homemade, Crazy Corn, or Beak Appetit. They get fresh fruit and veggies, too. They aren't picky, and I think that's because I've made a point of feeding them a variety of foods since they were young (Merlin's 10 years old, and Arwen's 9 months.)
