Banana Egg Bread (Bird Bread the Feathered Ones LOVE)

Banana Egg Bread
1 box Jiffy Muffin mix
2 really ripe bananas (the more spots on the peel, the better)
1 grated carrot
10 eggs
a small splash of milk, I used soy but the cow kind would work (a little less than 1/4 cup, I think)

Mash up the bananas with a fork until they sort of dissolved into a paste. Then add the rest of the ingredients and mix well with a wooden spoon. Pour into a greased 13x9 inch pan and cook according to the Jiffy muffin directions. It took about 18 minutes for it to cook through when tested with a toothpick.

After it cools, I cut it into 32 squares. I wrapped them up two to each piece of tin foil and froze them. I thaw them out in the refridgerator over night, then feed it the bird during the week. To serve, I crumble them up into little pieces and put it in a treat cup. One square seems to be making 4 generous servings.

Let me know how y'all like this recipe! I want to try it with pumpkin puree instead of the banana one day to see how that works. This might be a good place to use some extra zucchini, too.

Yep, that's right, there are 10 eggs, BUT this makes enough for a couple of months worth of birdbread. I cut it into 32 squares which is enough for between 64 and 128 servings, depending on the size of your bird/s. That way they get a good serving of egg protein in each serving. I give this to my birds three times a week.

Wow, thats a great recipe. Im gonna go buy some eggs and soy milk. Thanks TinaInWonderland! Might make a small amount first though, see if they like it before i make to much! For the bananas though, do you use the peel? or just the inside of it?

Thanks again :D

Hi Ponytailofdoom, I don't use the peels, just the inside part.

Since you only have to use one box of the Jiffy mix, you might want to go ahead and make the whole batch. I noticed in your post you have dogs. My Boston terriers love eating this, too, and look at me all sad if I don't offer them some when I'm filling the birds' treat cups.

Alright thanks! :D

Yeah that makes sense, didn't really think about that. Well as you said your dogs eat it, worst comes to worst im sure Homer will eat it, he eats everything and Zim has eating most things i've ever giving him (he even tried to eat Gir when we got her) Thanks again for the recipe!
