I thought of this while I was making fresh salsa yesterday and my birds LOVED it.

I took fresh tomatoes (could used canned) removed the skin and seeds and chopped into little pieces. Then I added the following (finely diced) green pepper, jalapeno pepper (seeds and all), celery, fresh cilantro, fresh oregano, small amount of garlic, and a small amount of apple cider vinegar. I simmered it on the stove until it thickened to a salsa consistancy (about 30 minutes).
For the "chips" I took a flour tortilla and brushed it with egg yolk instead of oil although the amount of oil is so small you could use it. Cook in a skillet until brown and crispy then either cut or break into small wedges. I took the chips and just broke them into small pieces and gently mixed them into the salsa. The birds loved it and ate all of it. It also got them to eat veggies that they would never try.

The best thing is that the salsa freezes really well! I put some in an ice cube tray so I have single sized portions.
