Bird bread from leftovers
OK, I just threw this together one afternoon with leftover veggies.
I put the following vegetables in the blender with one whole egg, shell and all.
Broccoli
Carrots
Whole kernel corn
Green beans
I liquified all this stuff in the blender, adding a little water till it was like pancake batter. I dug through the pantry and found a box of corn bread mix, and mixed everything together in a bowl. You might want to add some more water, so its like cake batter. I poured it into a round cake pan, and baked it for 25 or 30 minutes. It smelled SO good while it was baking, I had to sample it after it cooled a little....not bad! I gave each one of the fids a piece of it after it was cool, and not a one of 'em turned up a beak at it!
In fact, later that night there wasn't a crumb to be found in any of the cages.
I cut the leftovers up into 1 inch pieces and put it in the freezer, and every couple nights I put in a frozen chunk for them to pick at. I was thinking next time, I'd throw in some apples, grapes, fruit cocktail and some fruit juice instead of water. The corn bread mix seems to hold everything together, and they love it!
