I have 2 old TB and 3 ponies. They are all fairly old are retired now. They used to be showjumpers when we were all younger.

i use to own 2 horses. Paint was a heinz 57 horse arab mix. and my big baby; Finale's Breeze;RIP; foundation appy. my wish is to own another appy. Breeze was a one in a million horse. he was one of horses that could be trusted 100%. i could go up behind him and scare him and he WOULD NOT kick out/buck until he knew he was aways away from you. a baby crawling under hoof, he would not move an inch. he always was watching your every move. he had heaves and eventually died because he got out his pasture and ate hay. he was not allowed to eat hay but only a complete horse feed with heave guard. his linage goes all the way back to pocahantus lou and little handprints.he was bred in schoolcraft,mi

Asta -- A 54 year old woman can certainly learn to ride! I used to work at a saddle shop. Many of our clients were adults who took up or resumed riding in their 40s, 50s or 60s. As a precaution, you might want to have a physical at your DR's to rule out any limitations but otherwise? GO FOR IT! Many lesson stables have adult classes.

cpryslek -- My first horse (well, only horse... and I didn't really own him but half-boarded him) was an Appaloosa. He was a chestnut (can't recall his pattern type) with 4 white stockings, a bald face, flaxen mane & tale and two beautiful blue eyes. I actually rode him on my first riding lesson and HATED him --- stubborn as the day is long. Years later, when he was offered up as a half board, my parents OK'd the situation before talking it over with me. I'm glad that they did, though: I ended up loving that horse like you wouldn't believe. He was school in Western, English (hunter/pleasure) and dressage. The perfect first horse if there ever was one!

I haven't owned a horse since... I stopped riding when I was about 15 and started again at 25. I haven't ridden in about 3.5 years, though :(

I love just about every animal out there but I think that horses are probably my first love...

I don't own horses yet. I just board them for friends at my home. Lots of land for them to go crazy in. Plus its great practice for me hands-on, and great experience for my little one. One day we'll get some of our own.

Pictured below is one of our favorites of the herd. Shamrock, he's a QH, and soooo sweet. I hope when I get a horse of my own he or she's disposition is somewhat like his. This is a one and only horse. My goodness, be sad when he goes. But we have a long time until then!!

Yep, I have one to. He's a 4 year old TB. I am hoping to learn low level dressage with him and maybe a bit of jumping.

imo, geldings are alot easier to deal. paint was a mare. you talk about hormones,it is a mare. breeze was a gelding. i went to clollege out in silverton,or for horsemanship. we had retired tb racers for dressage horses. dressage is hard to learn. i for one just like to hit the trails and go. i would ride for hours. my friend and i rode from newaygo,mi to bear lake,mi, in 3 days. if ever somebody wants to do long distance riding plan a year in advance. get ahold of the forestry service and ask them for their permission to use their service routes.

Horse lover here

I have 4 miniature horses. My tallest is 34 inches at the base of her mane. My smallest is a 29 inch stallion. I have one mare who is bred, she is 292 days today. I am very excited about this birth.

Lets see if I know how to post a pic...

OH MY GOODNESS! Digger's Mom, I LOVE mini's! Did you ever go to the Land of the Little Horses in Gettysburg? My parents took me there YEARS ago. The mini's would perform all sorts of tricks... I remember that they had little mini paints, little mini appy's, little mini Arabs... As much as I love to ride I sometimes think that I'd rather have a few mini's around to enjoy :)
