I'm definitely a horse lover, and no being in your 50's doesn't mean you can't learn to ride. I'm 72 and still ride some, though I'm still working full time and don't have too much time. I started as a baby. We breed, raise and train registered Arabians, have about 7 out there now. My daughter and 2 grandaughters ride and show. My 21 yr old rides jumpers in events, cross country, the BIG jumps, and also gives horse lessons, and is running a horseback riding camp for young people this summer teaching them how to ride. Horses are my first love, have always had one. Just got into registered Arabians about 10 years ago. We have a beautiful Straight Egyptian white stallion names Jasoor and hope to have one of his first babies next year. He just took Champion at the last horse show, reserve champion at Andalusia Al this summer. We have high hopes for him. We also take in abused horses, have one chestnut gelding named Taz who was so abused and thin when we rescued him we didn't think he would amount to much. He is now doing shows and is fat and sassy and loves to be petted and cared for. My 13 yr old grandaughter rides him. Horses are wonderful friends. Hope all of you have one someday. God bless you all.

I am so excited to see fellow horse people. I currently have 2 Thoroughbreds, 1 Arabian and I am picking up my Palomino paint today. I am learning to control my horse obsession, so I bought an African Grey. He/she will be coming home in August.

Have one horse right now, but she is out on lease. Missy is a cutting quarter horse. I am looking for another one right now.. I used to train cutting, and roping horses, and ride barrel racing too.. they are quite fun.

I think horse was my first word. I was lucky to grow up with a horse/animal crazy mom who showed me the way.
Currently I have an 11 year old APHA Paint horse who I do dressage and Trail ride with. He is my Blue-eyed boyfriend for sure. I've had him since he was 5 and I was his fifth owner at the time - he was a used stud - so kind of ornery you could say when he first came into my life. He was cut just a month before our relationship started, boy was it tough at first! It is true that you appreciate more your hard work when you see where he is today. I'm so proud of him! Our other horse is a quarter horse cross - that we picked up for our stepdaughter for Christmas a couple of years ago. He is now the family horse since she decided to move out of state back to her family. He doesn't get much attention, so I try to find anyone that can help ride him. He is so loveable and doesn't get the attention he used to - I feel bad for him and struggle with what would be best - he loves kids! He was diagnosed with navicular a year and a half ago - but is safe to ride w/t and light canter. I am currently considering a contract on an American Warmblood/Hanovarian. My Paint - due to the way he is built - stock type horse- is limited in the show ring due to his confirmation. Therefore we are unable to move up the levels and still get decent scores. Warmbloods dominate with their uphill carriage. We board 'cause I have a city boy who does not want the maintenance of property! Alas I live and breath my equine hobby and still can't wait till I get home to see my Ekkies!
