Lightbulb Good Body Clippers for My Horse

Does anyone have a recommendation for really good body clippers? I cannot find anyone, believe it or not, to clip my horse, so I guess I'm going to have to learn how to do it myself.
I'm watching on line videos/classes on how to clip, but need a recommendation on the clippers. Anyone?

Nothin Beats a Laube.
Laube web site
NO other clipper on the markets runs as fast. Its what I have been using for over ten years now on dogs and I have used it on my horses. No tracks. But get several blades to switch out - they get hot fast!!

Good body clippers for my horse

I am a dog groomer and I clip my sisters horse for her. I use only Andis. They have great power. Use a #10 blade.

I've not heard of this brand either. Also, remember I'm not a professional groomer, so I don't want my boy looking like a freshly cut lawn with lines all over his body. LOL I'll check the Andis out too.

Also, you said use a # 10 blade? Are they all standard size no matter what brand of clippers you use?

You will need to purchase blades. I don't think it comes with a blade but it might come with a #10. Either way you will need 2 #10 blades. Or 2 #7 blades. The higher the number on the blade the shorter the cut. A #10 is going to cut real close. Now they do sell specific horse clippers but I don't know brand names. They have a much wider head too.
Listen, why do you want to clipp him? Don't you have a shedding blade to get all that extra hair out. You might want to ask at a riding stable what they recommend. Judy

I'm clipping him because he's not able to shed his hair out like he used to. It's been up to 110 degrees here in FL with the heat index and he just can't shed it out.. I've tried curry combs. shedding blade.. you name it. It sometimes happens with senior horses where they lose the ability to shed as they should. Handsome is 23 yrs old.

I purchased the Laube clippers at Lori's recommendation and it came with a #10 wide blade, plus I bought 2 additional #10 blades. I looked high and low for people to clip him and could not find anyone, so I did it myself. It just got way too hot here for me to wait any longer.

Just be careful when you are clipping though it is so easy to catch some skin *cringes* i've seen that happen and its not pretty even with the horse tranqued it still jumped. around the elbow and flank the skin is wrinkly/thin and easy to catch. Im sure you know this but i thought i should share lol. OH and if you are wondering why the horse was tranqued it's because i worked at a race track and the thoroughbred's can be easily excited so it's safer to get them dopey lol

I know this is a good thread..

But i've used Lister Liberty clippers for the past 7+ years, never had any problems with them, must have clipped over 150 with them now.
