Playstand ideas?
Hello,
For Aree's big birthday present, I want to make her a really nice playstand. I've seen some great ones around here, but can't remember where I found them all. Do any of you have any ideas for me? Pictures of playstands and ideas for one would be great. Thanks!

Do a search for playstands or gyms on here. That would probably be the best way to get some ideas. There have been a lot of threads about them!

The stand is 2 foot by 3 foot and on wheels, stands about 52 inches high. I got a dolly frame from Marc's for about $16 and it had wheels attached. You could make one but for me this was easy and it has heavy duty wheels that roll very nice from room to room, even swivel, goes over carpet and will hold up to 300 pounds. I got 2-foot by 3-foot piece of wood from Home Depot already cut for $3. Got 6 pieces of tile from Dollar store, 3 for a dollar, makes cleaning very easy, sweep and wipe up with wet wipes. We had the wood in garage that I put around base to keep stuff on tiles, but have been thinking it would look better with branches around the base, may change that also. Got stainless steel 2-inch screws (#10 x 2") at Home Depot, package of 20 for $3.41, got 2 packs and still have plenty. Went to the woods and got the branches for free. So for about $30 I had the stand. I got some more wood, want to add some more branches and have extra's for chewing damage. That is one nice thing about having screws to attach, just unscrew and attach new branch.
I have the main upright branches about 6 inches in so the poop stays on the stand for easy clean up. The main branches are around 40 inches high, each is a little different. The cross bars are about 27 inches and 20 inches. Had gotten the bungee rope at a bird fair some time back for around $15, like it because it was very thick and both birds could use it. This is something you can or cannot use. Hope this help or gives you some idea's. Jane ![]() |
