There is really nothing that you could paint it with that is safe or wont peel off and be ingested. You can however, look and see if there is a place that does "powder coating"... with the price of that thought, you could buy a new cage. A couple of years ago I bought a used cage that was all chipped up and thought I could finish it and repaint it. Could find nothing. I asked the vet etc etc etc. Called the place that does powder coating and it would have cost me almost $200.00 bucks and an hour drive each way. I bought a new cage.

VoTech autobody shops are a great place to get things sandblasted and some welding.

Find a local weld shop, that is who usually does powder coating. My local one here charges less than a hundred for a macaw sized cage.

powder coating

I just had my 4' high x 3' square cage powder coated with 4 spot welds done for $150.00. I am thrilled with how this looks. Next mission, a new pan for the bottom (have been quoted $50.00). I've had this cage for over 25 years, just lost my 60ish B&G, and have now acquired a yellow naped macaw.

I could not have replaced this cage for what it has cost me to have this done.

What is a ..

"Yellow Naped Macaw" ??

I've heard of a Macaw and I've heard of a Yellow Naped Amazon.

Did you mean Yellow Collared Macaw?

Just curious.
